Not quite the approach I would use on checking the run out on the rotor, but if the end results get you where you want to be ,
that's good.
Are you calling the flywheel, the large diameter of the rotor?

You may be able to count the ring gear teeth by looking into one of the oil plug holes.

More than a few years ago, I tried to fit an original Heinrich and it wouldn't fit
and I don't recall where the interference was at. I am using one dual lead coil
so don't think that was the problem. Time to check again I guess .

Daryl, I removed the carb to look at the clutch material thickness on my R42 to make sure I wasn't having a senior moment. It is impossible to measure accurately, but it appears to be around 3/16" thick. I started out with 1/4" material and that was to thick for the clutch to go together. ...
