Re: Exhaust Removal Advice

Guess now I can tell my story. I bought a brand new Mazda RX3 with Rotary engine in 1973. In Fort Worth Tx. I was 25 in the USAF. The engine had 2 spark plugs per Rotor ( 4 plugs). Car had some 10,000 miles when I decided to check the spark plugs. One came out no problem. But the next,& next alm...

Re: Exhaust Removal Advice

I was referring to the spigot galling that Schrader was talking earlier. The threads on the exhaust where the pipe ends go in. Use some anti-seize on the threads before you screw the nut on. I use it on my spark plug threads and other stuff I don't need the threads messed up on.

Re: Exhaust Removal Advice

Just my .02, leave the exhaust on. Its going to be blue/black in a few thousand miles anyway. but there ya go. There is some stuff called Autosol Bluing Remover for motorcycles made in Germany so it says. Have some but not tried in the 2 yrs I have had it. Those crossover pipes will be the least of ...

Re: New to the forums and new to motorcycles

Good Ideas here for first timers. Next if you are going to do a lot of stop & go city riding you may want a liquid cooled bike. K & F BMWs come to mind. But Honda, Kwi, & others work too. Don't get a BMW with ABS, I have had 2 and the ABS took a crap. I always worry when there is a 5 way...

Re: Guidance

It took me 2.5 yrs to do my 69 R69S & $2500 ( parts) to do most all myself. Sent the head out to do the valve seats & cylinders (jugs) out to have them honed one size larger. I used one of those all-in-one tools ($200) hot plate. My freezer/hand held torch. And 99% of the rest were just my h...

Lower fairing crack at shifter

On my way to Lake Tahoe Calif. couple weeks ago my fairing cracked down by the shifter. Right at the bracket that attaches to the frame. On my 92 R100RT, I know my #13 boot don't help the situation. I have used 2 part epoxy twice and it has broke loose at the same crack each time. I have been riding...
