Re: hand control levers

Damon, I just checked my 1952 R 51/3 (early 1952) and my 1953 R 68 (early 1953) and both look like your right picture with the larger profile. My next newest motorcycle thats anywhere close to me is the R 50 S and that one has the narrower profile. This does not necessarily answer your question, but...

Re: You Can Do It! series launched!

Hunt, if you don’t have Cleco fasteners start in the middle and work your way out. As you go you may need to drill the holes to make them perfect. Not as good as using Clecos but it still works.

Re: Dual points for R69S (or any twin with magneto ignition)

I figured I would send this out to be clear what dual points do and what their function are. Generally they are to increase the dwell allowing for a hotter spark. One set of points makes the connection the other one breaks. I have yet to see a dual point system with two (2) coils, but not saying the...

Re: R51/3 rear wheel alignment with Plunger rear end

Just checked my R 51/3 (Heaidenau) and R 68 (Metzler) and both coves are very close but not touching the main tire. The metzler seems a bit closer.
R 51/3
R 51/3
R 68
R 68
And yes, the R 51/3 has a leaking seal and is getting a new one this winter! It’s getting a bit old. 😄

Re: R27 with Vape system

Hello, I have a 1965 R 27 with the Vape unit installed. Sorry to say that I have never had a problem with any spark plugs, and/or starting. I know I have used at least NGK, AUTOLITE and Bosch plugs in it and it runs fabulously. Starts easily, usually within 3 kicks hot or cold, and runs great. I hav...

Re: Where to get gas tank lining redone

After much thought, I am likely going to use it for a bit and thewn put a liner in. Vech told me about Ospho and if I get surface rust I can always use that. I think I am going to do POR-15. I have heard great things and it's silver, which was the pre-war color (or so I have been told). Thanks all!!!

Re: Where to get gas tank lining redone

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a “new to me R12” and after I am done cleaning the tank I am considering what to do. I am seriously considering leaving it without a liner and just making sure I keep the fuel topped off to Minimize any rust potential. I have read varying thoughts on lining versu...

Re: R69s Bings

Paul,

Bing agency in KS does a really good job with that and I would not trust any any other fix than what he does.

It’s winter, I would send it to him to fix.

Best,

James
