Re: Current Values are DOWN!

It might be that the stock market is hitting record highs and housing prices are rising, so collectables are not in as much demand as a hedge.

Re: Harry Buck's R5

if you're talking about the Megola, a bike with a 5 cylinder motor in the front wheel, it actually had a production run in the early 1920s. While rare and very unusual, it's not a 1 of 1 bike.

Re: Insurance

There are several specialist companies that insure vintage vehicles, and their rates tend to be much, much lower. Possibly the best known of these is Haggerty, but there are others. My old bikes are insured by JC Taylor. Some of these companies have yearly mileage limitations or stipulations, but my...

Re: Battery

If you don't care about authenticity, buy one of the zillions of sealed lead acid ("SLA") batteries available on Amazon and other places. It won't be the same size as your existing battery, but these can be adapted and made to work, and they cost about $20. I've used these in 3 of my bikes...

Re: Zitzen H4 "Super" headlight wiring diagram?

Does the wheel run true or does it have a "wow"? Spoke issue?

Re: R51/3 Throttle Cable Conundrum

For these throttle cables, definitely follow Vech's advice. If you're making a cable and the cable end has a through hole -- like the ball shank end that fits into a barrel on a brake or clutch cable -- pull the cable through and then unwind and spread the strands. Once you solder it, it will never ...

Re: R51/3 Throttle Cable Conundrum

I think I've seen some British bikes that had throttles like that. It's definitely not a /3 throttle, which has a spiral groove that moves a traveler back and forth, and the traveler captures the cable ends. Looks like you're on your own here. Making your own cables isn't difficult, but you need a h...

Re: early /5 wiring diagram

Look for your model under Knowledge Base -> BMW Model Info. There are PDF manuals there with the original wiring diagrams.
