Base Gasket Sealant

I have had great success using this sealant on my 1975 R90S and R90/6. These models inherently have a base gasket base sealing problem. This is a highly recommended base gasket sealant, it is Suzuki 1207B, Silicone Gasket, SP-3K. It cost $18.95 retail as opposed to KawaBond and YamBond costing about...

Steering Bearing Adjustment Primer

Here is how I adjust the steering head bearings on my R90S: SYMPTONS that tell you this job is needed: Sloppy steering, the handle bar tends to wobble too much from side to side in turns, and the handlebars go from side to side too easily (this is subjective). The problem is that as you ride your mo...

Static Timing a Points Equipped Engine

Disconnect battery!, remove horn if necessary and front cover. Attach allen wrench on alternator bolt so the engine can be turned over. Adjust points gap using the screw on right (from the front). Attach test light to bare wire on condenser and ground clip on engine. Loosen the two screws on the lef...

Bing, Leak Problem Resolved

So I had a leaky Bing, first option is replace the float bowl gasket, right, as that usually stops the leak? Well not this time. So I backed off from this plan and thought about it: take one step at a time in a very methodical approach. So I took the float bowl off and set it on my workbench in a st...

Cleaning the engine, transmission and final drive: Simple Green BBQ Cleaner

I have had great success cleaning alloy parts using
Simple Green Heavy Duty Barbecue & Grill Cleaner. It's in an aerosol can.

Don't let it sit for long, rinse it off with water, and use it on cool parts.

Part Number For BMW Wrap "Tape" For Wiring

I found the part number for the "ofishul" BMW tape they use for wrapping wiring, it is 83 30 0 402 345 Another option is to use self amalgamating tape which is the generic name, the "Kleenex" specific name that one company has called "rescue tape" but it is simply self ...

Leaking Base Gasket? '74 or '75 R90S?

If you own a '74 or '75 R90 or R90S and your engine cylinder base gaskets leaks, here is some help: When I rebuilt my '75 R90S 11 years ago, to help seal the bases of the engine cylinders, I used the sealant "Suzuki 1207B Silicone Gasket" and have not had a leak at the base gaskets since. ...

My First K Bike

I met my future wife, Melanie, and soon after she asked for a ride on my Kawasaki, a KZ400, which I had ridden some 14,000 miles but I had no one to ride with so had put it up for sale. In fact it was sold, but not delivered. She really liked that short ride and asked if I really had to sell the bik...
