All the ones I have had to do were exhaust rockers. The intake ones were good.
That's interesting.

Do you have any theories on why that would be?

Re: For those who like special tools

Well that is a really nice bit of kit.

Who knows when the need arises I may have to build a copy.

Thank you for sharing. The design looks really good.

Re: For those who like special tools

I noticed this little tool I made for fitting the flat clips onto the new valve guides.
I dont think I have shared this before.
Again not necessary, but does do a good job of controlling the process.

Re: For those who like special tools

Mal, I see you made a tool to replace the small end bushing. How do you ream it to size? Did you also make a tool to keep it perpendicular to the crankcase? I use either the 18mm or 20mm ball pushed through as recommended by Barrington. Then I have a spiral reamer for both 18mm and 20mm depending o...

Yes Mal, we had a horrendous fire in the town I grew up in , Lahaina, Maui. It is tragic and devastating. Global warming is affecting all of us!
Sorry to hear of the tragedy. I hope you recover in time. Very hard to put words to do justice to these events.

Regards

Now that sounds like a great holiday destination..... However I thought you had had some really bad bush fires... Lets hope that is sorted and everyone is safe.

We have a little experience in Australia of bushfires.... a regular summer threat.

Re: For those who like special tools

Very cool !!! That is a great thing, to be able to make a tool, and the assurance that you WILL get the job done! I wish you were my neighbor, so I could come over and borrow those nice tools you have made. Thomas Not sure where you live. maybe you are not that far away, the world is a small ...

Re: How do you fit new needle rollers in rocker arms

Kurt I really appreciate the input I get from you guys. Like St commented once, it is only fair I tell you how I got on and close the loop. It might help someone else later on. It was amazing how loud the noise was and yet it wasn't easy to detect the play in the rocker arms. And I am going to do th...

Re: Air Filter Question

Is the top of the air cleaner correctly seated on the base?

Is the air cleaner element the correct element?

Could the element be holding it apart?

Mine has a small dowel to locate the air cleaner - is that being correctly oriented?

So many questions, so few answers.
