I am working on a friends 1971 R60/5 and am wondering if this bike did not come with side covers. I have a /6 which has color matched side covers but am not sure about this bike. The illustration on the owners manual shows it without side covers.

You are correct, they go on the left side.

This is a /2 frame not an R68 frame. Totally different frame type. The /2 frame pictured does look nice.
