Re: wiring question re. starter protection relay

Doing what you are doing is only a bad thing IF you sell the bike to someone else. Then your modifications can become previous owner's disease for the next owner. I spent a week working on a R75/5 who's previous owner had cobbled in after market turn signals as well as other fast cheap fixes, The fe...

Re: wiring question re. starter protection relay

I guess I will have to dig out a wiring diagram in one of my books to see what you are referring to. I didn't think the wiring on a /5 was all that complex to begin with. St.

Re: final drive / drive shaft

If the drive splines are good, it isn't leaking and you haven't found metal in the drained gear oil. Ride it. St.

Re: wiring question re. starter protection relay

I am not quite sure of what you want to do and why? The purpose of a relay is to provide low current control of a higher current draw item. I don't have the exact current loads for each of your items such as the starter (which does have a separate cable for it's very high current draw) the starter s...

Re: Fiamm horn/relay question.

Despite the inside of the headlight shell sometimes looking like a bundle of jumping snakes, unless the PO, spliced on wire to existing factory wires, everything is pretty well sorted, All the stock wiring is pretty well color coded, Solid color wire is usually a hot unstitched or uncontrolled, unfu...

Re: Battery for R75/5 sealed or not. Opinons?

I hear tons of stories and there are numerous battery threads on batteries saying all kinds of things pro and con, with everyone having a favorite brand. As I said, my local shop has replaced /5 batteries with sealed and as far as I know has never had a problem. The biggest shop problem with batteri...

Re: Fiamm horn/relay question.

You know I haven't asked a simple question and the answer might shed some light how to proceed. The relay you have on hand, does it have the internal wiring diagram stamped on the case or printed? If it does, can you take a good picture and attach it so we can look at it? I am asking for the reason ...

Re: Battery for R75/5 sealed or not. Opinons?

If you like cleaning terminals and corrosion from your battery mounts as well as checking fluid levels go for a traditional battery. I don't have a /5 myself but the shop I frequent who restores and repairs installs more sealed batteries than traditional. I can say that since I switched to sealed Od...
