Not quite the approach I would use on checking the run out on the rotor, but if the end results get you where you want to be ,
that's good.
Are you calling the flywheel, the large diameter of the rotor?

How did you determine that your 3 jaw chuck is clamped on the rotor with zero run out?

You may be able to count the ring gear teeth by looking into one of the oil plug holes.

More than a few years ago, I tried to fit an original Heinrich and it wouldn't fit
and I don't recall where the interference was at. I am using one dual lead coil
so don't think that was the problem. Time to check again I guess .

Heinrich tank

At one time someone was making a Heinrich tank that would fit a conversion with sidecar.
Is anyone still making them?

I don't care for the disc brake look 'but like the big diameter drum look.

Peter, The museum is the right place. my address is olebmw@aol.com. I replaced the bearings that I could with sealed bearings and machined the bearing holders to accept modern seals on the ones I couldn't get sealed, on the transmission of my R11.
