You might want to check the

You might want to check the manufacturing date on those tires.... I had a bike with like new tires blow out on the road....when I checked them closely I found that they were over 25 years old...and unsafe... tires are cheep when compared to road rash ...

I understand your pain

I have the original rubber solo seat on my 1966 R69S and it is not a good ride at all... it sits high in the back and scoots you forward into the tank... uncomfortable on any long ride... my bike has that rubber block holding the seat in position so there is not much that can be done to change the p...

Don't ever run regular...especially with a R69S

Boy, did I ever learn.... burned a hole in a piston...what a mistake.... if I can't get premium fuel I walk... it's that high compression of the R69S.... I guess it would run in a lower compression R50 or R60 but that lesson I learned hurt a lot...

Use silicone grease

You can use Silicone grease on the rubber parts without harming the rubber and it will make the installation much, much easier.. Also be REAL careful when you tighten the nuts on the flange that you do not distort the carburator ears...they bend easily...and cause air leaks... replace the fiber insu...

What is wong with that one

I don't know much about transmissions...what is the problem ? I once had a yoke spin on the shaft..i had to replace the yoke and we cleaned the shaft... it worked just fine. I have several old transmissions that might have a useable shaft if you need one.. I think having one made up would be really ...

I went thru the same problem

I went thru the same problem with a R69S.... I tried everything I could think of.... it turned out to be a bad plug... should not have been bad as it had much less than 1000 miles on it...it would break down under hard acceleration....otherwise it was fine.

It's your bike.... paint it what you want...

You are the only one matters..... there are tons of bikes at shows that are true garage queens... and will beat your restoration every time in a show... thats the only time they see daylight...they are never ridden and unless you are willing to spend crazy money restoring something worth half of wha...

Lead was used as a lubracant

It is outlawed in the USA so we have no choice ....all our fuel is lead-free.... The higher compression the more you need to use high octane... I imagine that a R50/2 or R60/2 would be fine with regular...but the high compression of the R69S demands high octane fuel. Octane really pertains to the sp...

Modern fuels have a lead substitute already

Years ago when they took the lead out, everyone shook.... and was worried about valve seat erosion....but it did not happen... I worked in an engine rebuild shop and very few, very, very few heads had problems... when they removed the lead they used something else...and it seemed to be just fine.......
