R26 Replacement Voltage Regulator Wiring

I have a new electronic VR I'm installing in an R26 and I need some help with the connections. I have two sets of directions and they don't seem to align: This one shows D+ as "Free": 20220519_183752.jpg This one shows 61 as not connected: 20160601_154221.jpg This is a photo of the board a...

Re: R90/6 electrical question

Brad, Does your Start Relay have a bound 87 terminal i.e. two spade terminals for 87 or an 87 and 87a like the one shown in the wiring diagram I sent? The way I understand it is these work differently in that the 87a is a change over type relay, where the 87a terminal is connected to terminal 30 whe...

Re: R90/6 electrical question

Scott, the color schematic you have posted for the 75,76 bikes is the same pattern as the schematic Webmore posted at the very beginning of this thread, his was in B&W yours is in color. Did you look at the schematic I posted where a black wire is clearly shown going from 87 on the starter rela...

Re: R90/6 electrical question

I have two wiring diagrams for the /6 - the 74 and the 75/76. The 74 does not have the wire going from 87a to the headlight bucket as is shown on the 75/76 diagram. As to where that connects, which was the original question, I too can't say as my R90S is a 74 and the R90/6 currently in my shop is al...

Re: Manufacturing Dates e-mail

Just an FYI, that email address is being decommissioned and a new email address (hdz.info@bmwgroup.com) is where we need to send info request to - see below: Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, This mailbox (info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com) will soon no longer be processed. In the future, please contact the fo...

Re: R26 - Not Hitting Full Advance

...Your peg on the right side of your picture that looks like it may have been re-soldered should be in the hole to its left that brings it closer to the peg on the weight... Hi Jim, I did realize that after I found the above pictures. The 9mm spring is backordered from my supplier so I only have 1...

Re: R26 - Not Hitting Full Advance

Kurt, It looks like it depends on the type of advancing unit and where the pins are soldered to. From the Salis site: https://bmwclassicmotorcycles.com/index.php/advance-spring-9-mm.html Depending on the type of Centrifugal Governer, 2 x 11 mm springs are needed or 1 x 9 mm and 1 x 11 mm Also note t...

Re: R26 - Not Hitting Full Advance

It will be good to hear the right answer, but I don't think it's going to make a difference which spring is where. The idea behind the two lengths is that one of the weights will pull out earlier than the other due to the different tension in the springs... Hi Kurt, That was what I was thinking too...

The R26 uses:
one 11 mm length advance spring 12 12 8 002 171
one 9 mm length advance spring 12 12 8 002 172
Thanks Vech.

Quick question - on the attached photo does it matter which side the 11mm and the 9mm springs go on, or either side is fine?

Re: R26 - Not Hitting Full Advance

Thanks again Kurt. I have an account with bmw-einzylinder from an R27 restoration I did 10+ years ago and forgot about it. I should have searched there first myself. If the ebay listing is correct then it does fit the R26. I haven't had a chance to "toothpick" test it yet. I'll see how tha...
