why not simply convert to the later (R69S?) float bowl tops with the seat on the side which also uses viton tipped needles?

should cure what is ailing your ride

I know but unless the bike has previously set with the petcock not turned off.....

and if it is not clearly exhibiting very noticeable drive-ability symptoms

we have an inexplicable anomaly or perhaps there has been some level of sabotage

yeah keep the petcock closed and also check to make sure that closed or off really means fuel isn't still flowing many of those petcocks need recorking and it can be done even if somewhat tedious and painful anyhow, make sure the valve/petcock is turned off while sitting and make sure when it's off ...

very easy and completely unintrusive is to use the commonly aviailable "stick on" weights for automotive applications

make fine tuning much easier and affordable than the "crimp on" types with zero damage to your spokes, nipples, or wheel rims

enlighten me as to what you mean by 'pulled the magneto off to clean the contact surfaces' run a white piece of paper thru the closed points set and do this until white paper comes out clean you'll need to putz about with the tension on the points as fully closed they will simply hold onto the paper...

from what I am reading it sounds like the right is a bit rich and the left a bit lean one other thing you may wish to consider retarded ignition timing will reduce chamber temp but increase exhaust temp advanced ignition timing will increase chamber temp but lower exhaust temp it is possible for the...
