Re: Bing carb issue

Both screws, or just the left one when you stop and put on side stand? If the latter, that's normal. If both, then you have a float or needle and seat problem. Check to see if you have the proper weight floats, that they are not cracked and half full of gas. Then lightly lap the needle tip into the ...

Re: R69S Magneto problem

Your rotor may have lost it's magnetism. However. have you run an unwaxed card through your points, even though they are new? Dirty points cause these problems.

Re: R69S Dover White on BAT

Slingers don't fill from sitting, they fill from running. Key is if the bikes have had religious oil changes and sump cleanings, something rarely verified. Some slingers fill quickly from assorted engine problems and poor maintenance, some last 30K miles or much more even, with good engine health an...

Actually it didn't sell - didn't meet reserve. Probably a smart move by the seller. They really pressure you to list with no reserve, for obvious reasons.

Re: Help me understand the points circuit...

You cannot read continuity through any coil. You are reading through the coil windings to ground. The coil wire must be removed to read the point make/break point.

Re: 1967 R69S rough running between 40 - 55mph

Possibly a too-lean or a too-rich carburation issue? I'd say lean if you want a guess. Try raising the needle one notch and see what happens. If worse, go the other way one notch.

Re: 7 digit vins

Just to be clear, the 7-digt VIN numbers were only on the later R60/2. All others kept the six-digit numbers until the end.

Re: Pinking!

Just found the timing specs in my original BMW R50, R60, R69 owner's manual. The R69 timing specs are indeed 12 degrees and 42 degrees (plus or minus 2 degrees at full advance). So the timing marks on the R69 flywheel reflect this, and I assume it'd the same for he R69S that you have. Your measureme...
