Back in the old days I would use some oil on them. This would keep them from deteriorating so fast not running dry. Im sure others here have their own remedies.

They still make them in

They still make them in Britain. Have you tried contacting them to see if any used ones available anywhere? Or just go ahead and buy one that's what credit cards for. If you use Pay Pal you can pay over time/ I do it all the time for big ticket items....if they use Pay Pal.

I have heard of K bike diff. problems over the yrs. But never experienced any. I had a 88 K 100LT, 93 K1100 LT, 2003 K1200GT. Kept the oil changed/tires inflated. Maybe just good luck? Good luck.

Some of those cylinder studs

Some of those cylinder studs are drilled clear threw into the engine case. Oil can leak threw the threads. Get some good sealer on some good clean threads. Oil & heat resistant.

Mac Performance.com $300 for some mufflers.
I bought there replacement mufflers for my 69S 3yrs ago. Its not stock but I don't like the "cigar" looking ones like everyone but my brother has on their bike.
I like it, not loud & cost was right & looks good.
So there ya go.
