Re: For those who like special tools

The fourth tool is for removing little end bushes and pushing in new ones. I hope it makes sense. It works well. IMG20221222095417.jpg There is a separate piece not shown for pressing in the new bush. All these tools have been made quite recently and are new to the workshop. I hope you all enjoy wor...

Re: For those who like special tools

The third tool is for removing the rear crank bearing carrier from the crankcase. This first victim had the carrier almost welded in with some sort of sealant. It took a good deal of heat and persuasion to remove it with out any damage. IMG20230824095021.jpg It took sometime to make the tool but it ...

Re: For those who like special tools

The second special tool is a fixture for measuring big end play. The post for mounting the crank, uses precise sleeves at 35mm, 32mm and 36mm to give flexibility in holding cranks either assembled or partially disassembled or fully disassembled. The dial gauge measures in 1 micron intervals. IMG2023...

For those who like special tools

One of the thinks I take an interest in in making special tools for any given job. Are these tools and jigs essential, well I guess mostly they are not. However it is fun working out how to either assemble, disassemble or accurately measure the old engines. Here are some recent additions to my speci...

Kurt

Yes I am leaning that way. I guess the right hand side may be getting ready as well?

Thank you for your contribution to this matter as it progressed.

Re: How do you fit new needle rollers in rocker arms

I fitted a new pushrod, reassembled bike and ran the engine. The evil TIC remained. I examined the wear on the shaft. Rocker shaft wear.jpg It was only .001mm - very small really. I pushed out the old needle rollers. Rocker press tools.jpg This happens to be part of the arrangement I have for replac...

How do you fit new needle rollers in rocker arms

Hi Fellow Owners

Well I ordered some new parts to try and correct a noise in my left hand exhaust valve system.
I have a new push rod, rocker arm shaft and new needle rollers.

Any one done this job and have any advice on what to watch out for?

Help and advice much appreciated.

Regards

Re: Progressively wound springs for shockies

Hi George Because the shocks are currently on the bike, so I cant see the springs, you may well be right.
