Re: Keihan Stainless Exhaust

I have had the same experience with Stainless and chrome. You gotta just leave everything loose and get it all in there/ force it, then tighten it all up. They rarely are “perfect”.

Re: R60/2 Ugly Battery

These 6V AGM batteries (available on ebay, just type in # on the battery, MBT6N6 ) are excellent, cheap and fit perfectly into these readily available vintage battery shells. No acid to spill, and vintage era look.

Re: Hens teeth

Mahalo Michael, being in Hawaii, it is pure serendipity that this bikes find their way to me..😂🤙🏽 I got this last summer and looking forward to riding it this summer after it’s broken in. I threw in a couple more pics, just as I bought it, a “20 footer”, but the inside of the engine was a mess! Appr...

Re: Type of carburators for BMW R51/2

Yes, you have the later carbs for R51/3. I have a early R51/3 which came with the same carbs you have, the incorrect, later ones. This early 1951 came originally with the same 39/40 carbs found on R51/2, so the search was on, and found a nice set of 39/40 out of Europe. They are rare, so if you want ...

Chuck, that is a pic I got off of FB, supposedly rod seized and there it is….🤷🏽‍♂️ I don’t know the whole story. Pretty dramatic failure though!

Re: Hens teeth

A couple more pictures, just finished a complete rebuild of engine and transmission, breaking it in right now. This transmission is the first I rebuilt with the eccentric bushings and paying close attention to shift fork setting really made a difference! This is the smoothest upshift and downshift I...

Hens teeth

Here are 2 parts I picked up from Jeff Moore @ vintage restorations. One is very rare / unobtanium, and the other rare, but easier to find. These are for my recently acquired 1958 R69, which came with a more common “Klaxon” horn, but originally came with this Bosch horn, which I gave a quick sand an...
