Re: OLD MAN SLINGER RANT!!

Chuck, that is a pic I got off of FB, supposedly rod seized and there it is….🤷🏽‍♂️ I don’t know the whole story. Pretty dramatic failure though!

Re: Hens teeth

A couple more pictures, just finished a complete rebuild of engine and transmission, breaking it in right now. This transmission is the first I rebuilt with the eccentric bushings and paying close attention to shift fork setting really made a difference! This is the smoothest upshift and downshift I...

Hens teeth

Here are 2 parts I picked up from Jeff Moore @ vintage restorations. One is very rare / unobtanium, and the other rare, but easier to find. These are for my recently acquired 1958 R69, which came with a more common “Klaxon” horn, but originally came with this Bosch horn, which I gave a quick sand an...

Re: clutch advice

I have gotten parts from him,but usually order through SALIS or vintagebeemerparts.com now. Salis has unfortunately had to charge super high shipping prices,so unless you are ordering a lot of parts,it may or may not be worthwhile. Go on their site and see. Also watch the FB groups,I just got a NOS ...

I concur! Yes, as Chis stated, your peg is too high up.

Re: clutch advice

Do you have any oil on the “shelf” below the transmission? These clutches are way over engineered and surprised to hear it slips without oil contamination on the friction disc. Anyhoo….. Mark+Swiss makes a high quality disc and Salis sells those or you can get it direct from www.bmwbike.com If every...

Brand new R69S cylinders are available

Just a FYI,if anyone is looking for R69S cylinders,SALIS has them, new production and they include SS pushrod tubes. I just got a set and they are beautiful. I will be using these in my R69S re-rebuild with a NOS crankshaft and new standard sized cylinders... its gonna be like it rolled out of the fa...

Re: restoration advice for newbie

"BE READY TO REBUILD THE WHOLE GODDAM THING". It is a common theme with these old machines. If you are inexperienced mechanically, these are NOT the machines to learn on. Valve adjustments, etc. oil change, but rebuilding is best left to experts with the right tools and knowledge . I am a for...

Re: OLD MAN SLINGER RANT!!

Here is a dramatic example. With crankshafts getting harder to find , I think it is good insurance.
