Re: /5 rear drive ratio

This is for a custom build and at present it is just too low a ratio. No concern about speedometer calibration. Also, are all /5 transmission four or five speeds or were there both in different years ?

/5 rear drive ratio

I have a friend with a /5 and wants to install a higher rear drive ratio if possible. He currently has an 37/11 rear drive (3.36 ratio). Is there something higher available he could install ? Thanks, Michael

R80 G/S

I need to replace the seal on the rear drive. The brakes are oily. Looking for any tips on doing this and best sources for parts.

Re: R67/2 project near completion

This is my R67/2, out for a ride last week. I ride it every chance I get in Wisconsin, where it only snowed twice this week.

Re: Matching rear tire size with final drive ratio

I agree, that's a good recommendation, stay with the 3.50 x 18 front and rear.

Re: 18" chrome rim

Thanks for the reply. This is the wheel that came with my Steib S500. It's an 18" BMW rim with a 160mm drum brake. The rim is in poor shape and I'd like to replace it with a new chrome steel rim. This old rim has the dimples. The cost of replating is quite high and not worth the expense. Lookin...

18" chrome rim

I'm looking for an 18" chrome steel rim to use on my S500 Steib sidecar. I called Buchanans wheel in California and was told they no longer sell steel rims, just aluminum. Prefer one that is a replica of the original BMW style. Thanks, Michael

Re: R18

The R18 is just way too big. It's gone the way of the US pick up trucks, they're gigantic. This is what I wish they would build, a real retro. Or the R7 replica.

Avon 19" sidecar tire

Looking for an Avon sidecar tire. 19" x 3.50". I have seen similar in 4:00 x 18" K block. Wondering about a source for this style in 19". Could be another brand, but that's all I've seen. Thanks, Michael
