Thanks, Kurt. It seems that my bike is roughly 2000 units too early for the upgrade.

(I haven't visited Beemergarage in a long time. Good to know it's still around.)

This may be a question for the vintage forum instead of here. When I looked up my '67 R69S, I noticed that 1967 was the year that the LK heads were introduced. Is there any indication of where in the engine number sequence that change occurred? On my bike, which has engine/frame/steering head #66250...

This is very subjective. It's not an outrageous price if it is mint, but it is more than I would pay. A grubby one could be found for under $100, but by the time you had it re-chromed, it would probably end up costing you close to $200, and you would still have to find the rubber bits. I'm not helpi...

I don't anticipate an overhaul in the near future, and I don't mean to be argumentative, but the article you link to refers to recent developments in manufacturing technology and metallurgy to justify the "quick break-in." Is it likely to be as valid for engines that are forty to fifty yea...

None of the pictures shown so far display the small (standard) tank. They all have the sport tank. (The bike with the Vetter fairing is mine. You can see that same picture in the VBMWMO member galleries under "Jon's Survivor," and a squashed version appears in the thumbnail to the left of ...

I agree with the technique of using coins in the spring coils. If you deploy the stand, the spring will be stretched enough to insert pennies, or washers, or dimes. Then when you fold up the stand, the spring should be loose enough to pull off with a pair of pliers or leverage off with a small screw...

I don't know about that R4. The tires look pretty worn to me.

That's a very nice set of Bucos. Do you know if they are reproductions? The lenses in the lights are different from what I remember. The originals were pointed. I have a Wixom top case with its folding rack that might interest you. I bought it for my R69S and decided that it just doesn't look right ...

Motorcycles in West Africa, 1903-1935 (No BMWs!)

In doing historical research on West Africa, I came across this collection of motorcycle photographs taken between 1903 and 1935. You may enjoy trying to identify them, though so far as I can make out there are no BMWs. (Click on the pictures to see larger versions.)

Bluemoonscooter, a frequent seller on ebay, sells a version of what you are looking for. It fits directly on the Denfeld fender-top rack.
