Kurt, thanks for that

Kurt, thanks for that informative link. All my 1955-1960 period literature lists the R69 with a 35/11 (3.18) final drive for solo. Even early R69S brochures list it with the 35/11. The 25/8 does not appear in any material that I've seen until about 1961. My '56 had a 32/11 (2.91) when I purchased i...

1956 R69 speed ratio?

Hey all, I'm searching for a correct speedo in KPH for my 1956 R69. I'm getting conflicting info as to what ratio I should have mated to my 35/11 final drive(3.18 ratio). The 1959 parts manual shows part # 80 80 084, a ratio of .75 for solo, but the Barrington manual lists 61 12 1 350 376, a ratio o...

hmmm, doubtful, but I'll give it a go tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

WOW!! It worked! New plugs and started on first kick. This will certainly go into my standard troubleshooting steps, thanks a bunch.
Now I can ride in the beauty of fall foliage.

I Checked everything again

I Checked everything again and tried 91 octane-still nothing. (I rebuilt these carbs last year) How in the world could it go from operating great one second and not even firing the next? The only thing I can think of was that the fuel had gone bad in the tank but in the fuel in the bowls and fuel l...

Help! it won't start.

Hey all, Yesterday I decided to ride to work on my R69. I hadn't ridden in about a month. It starts as usual on the second kick with the throttle just cracked and it runs fine and sounds good. I let it idle whilst I put on my helmet, jacket and such. Just as I take it off the center stand and am abo...

That is the accessory power

That is the accessory power outlet used for sidecar lighting or a handheld spotlight or anything else you can think of that runs off of 6 volts DC.

R69 Owner Survey

In an attempt to get a survivor figure I have decided to create an owner survey of the 2950+ R69's built. It will detail serial numbers, production dates and factory or replacement items. I will post the results on the forum. For those who wish to participate, please respond OFF FORUM to the follow...

Having recently purchased a

Having recently purchased a very similar R69 but in slightly better shape for a similar price I wouldn't have balked at this one. In fact, I expected it to go higher on the last day. I spent 5 years shopping for a 69 or 69s before one that was affordable and close enough to see first hand came along...

Power loss

c.d., Jets may be in my future. I assumed all were new as the previous owner had them rebuilt (I have receipts, but without specifics). First I will try without fuel filters to see if it's a supply issue. I just replaced all cables with my new short bars and synched them by ear. They're smooth as gl...
