Speedo

Came with a R12 headlight shell I bought. I think it needs a new drive, it came with a repro 120 kph face. I don't need it as I think the speedo I have on the bike already is genuine, I need to check. Be nice to know if it is a genuine BMW speedo. Anyone taken one apart before? Thanks for the respon...

Final bid

£3,150.00, well done to you if you're out there. Be interesting to see if this gets restored or if it's contributing to getting other bikes back on the road. In the UK and with £12,000 spent on it (my guess) it would be a good bike.

Gearbox

The other auction with the R 12 gearbox sold for nearly £600.00. With 22hrs left I suspect we'll see this top £4000.00. Here in the UK an R51/1 went at auction for around £12,000.00 that was a 'project' at best. Maybe the project bikes define the value of running bikes, but as you rightly pointed ou...

Value's of R12's

We often see questions regarding the value of antique BMW's and I believe that the general answer is that values are market derived. I recently spotted an R12 on Eb for sale (181812695106) which is a good example of market influences and the optimism that can be induced by such opportunities. If you...

Finally

Thanks Bruce and Darryl, I went back to basics on the wiring and ignition. I put the new loom back in the box and ran my own wires as there are so few. With the board again I went back to basics, I disconnected all the wires that come with the loom and overlaid the (what I believe to be) original la...

Thanks Bruce,

I've run wires as per the Bosch manual back to the board and labelled as you suggested. I've also been studying the 'original board' pictures that were on the ebay site (thanks for those whoever you are). I've overlayed the switchable connector at the end of the key barrel onto the ebay pictures to ...

R12 ignition boards

I found a picture on German ebay of a board that looks very similar to the board as shown in the English manual. It might make things easier for those considering buying ignition boards and wiring looms in the future. Note the difference in the boards that are available from some vendors. Regards John
