Re: Installing a 12 volt battery question

get yourself an empty shell and try to find a battery as Fred suggests. You won't see anything from outside

The original elastic strap still works and you might have even space inside the box to place a "flying" fuse.

Re: Yellow headlight lens...

in the old days only France (to my knowledge) had yellow lights. Check the old Louis de Funes Movies ... you'll see them. They used them since they apparently blend less when there was snowfall and/or fog. I Think from 1993 onwards they changed to white. Today white is mandatory.
hope that helps

Re: A way to assure correct functioning of the oil system?

Oil supply to the valve rockers comes by the push rods. But there is not a lot of oil coming ... so you might need to have the engine idle for a while be...

Michel,

not sure I would take that route. Welding a cylinder, I mean. Punctual heat etc doesn't sound good to me. I would look for another cylinder, original with a good bore if possible. Check with the usual addresses. I would be surprised if you cannot find one.

best regards

go for it !!! This is what people here in this forum love ... at least I do. This is how we all learn and that's what a forum is supposed to support. I am looking forward to it. Plus a R69 is a great bike. IMHO the best /2 engine. Very powerfull but not as "princess" as sometimes the S mod...

you're right, there is a company (I think in Italy) which makes exhaust systems ... I think mostly for 2stroke bikes. The letters are not seperated by dots, though.

in the old days, when bikes had no indicators, you had to give signal with your arm. In order to control your gas while signaling a right turn, this spring kept the throttle. As Frank says, very rare since most of these spring broke off. If you don't feel comfortable with it, replace the entire grip...

DRP is not a producer. It simply means D(eutsches) R(eichs) P(atent). Means, Patent of the German Reich. Guess, to make the repro mufflers look like the original prewar mufflers.
