There are plenty of bikes out

There are plenty of bikes out there WITH titles...my opinion is to find one, and save yourself all the problems you will run into....
In any case....check with DMV regarding inspections/provisional titles etc before purchsing out of state....

The throttle on my '57 R50

The throttle on my '57 R50 started sticking in open position...took throttle assembly apart and found old, dried grease gummed up in the gear. Cleaned it out and relubed. Now, the slide springs in the carbs pull it closed immediately. The internal spring in the throttle grip just seemed to take up ...

Oil, oil, oil...

Hmmm.... Page 23 of the Reparaturanleitung BMW R50 R60 R69S: Rear Swinging Arm = 200cc, and Rear Wheel Drive Gears = 150cc. That seems to match the Barrington Manual on page 483: Driveshaft = 200cc; and Final Drive = 150cc. I do remember that puts the fill level higher than shown in "Clymer's p...

You'll probably get more than you want on this one.... Chris Betjemann, (Barrington Motor Works), recommended 40 wt, non-detergent to me for my 1957 R-50 in the engine, trans, and rear end, unless seals have been changed. Use the recommended amount from the "BMW" manual, (200 cc sounds rig...

RE: Tail Light...

On my R-50 the spring is "hooked" on one end, and has a "hole" on the other end. The spring hooks to the bulb assembly at one end, while one of the lens clips (holds the lens in) runs through the "hole" on the other end of the spring. The spring is connected between the...

LED tail/brake lights....

Looks good to me...If, it's a LOT brighter than the stock bulb. The purists might holler at you, but I like extra brake/tail lights (when practical), on my bikes, since they don't have rear bumpers....

After looking at the signal setup from Bluemoonscooter, I decided not to install....but, I am reasonably happy with their sidebags, even though the paint job suffered rough handling prior to shipping...

I've had a couple bikes that were tough to get on a center stand; the Honda ST1100 by far the worst - even worse than a Goldwing...so, that in mind, here are a few suggestions: Method 1: Keep the bike "away" from you; front wheel straight. Put the center stand down touching the ground; hav...
