Re: Davida Helmets

IMO...folks wear old timey helmets for the same reason they put tractor seats on bikes that almost never used that type of seat Vintage novelty trumps reasonable function especially if u look more than ride. I also have a SHOEI full face helmet. Fits gud, quiet & auto darken. to each their own :...

Re: I'm getting a spark on the safety spark gap above the dynamo

The product I was thinking abt is called Corona Dope. Here's an ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124029209564?hash=item1ce0b78bdc:g:nbUAAOSwVYNeC5qC When I used it it came in a spray can & when dried it looked like red tank liner only thicker & more rubbery. At best it has limited value. ...

Re: I'm getting a spark on the safety spark gap above the dynamo

If no obvious solution is found I would remove the coil & strip the insulating wrap off. Look for carbon traces, places where it appears a spark may have jumped across the surface of the coil. Eventually ur probably going to have to replace the coil anyway but there is a spray on "paint&quo...

Re: I'm getting a spark on the safety spark gap above the dynamo

when things set around for yrs parts go bad
there was a reason the coil was wrapped i suspect & it had some kinda problem early
if i'm not mistaken u also had issues with fuel maybe...have u looked into that ?
is ur plug wire broken ?
what have u checked ?
hard to diagnose without more background

Re: Bike for sale

Tnx for the calls & suggestions. I've been to the BaT site & what I've seen is abt what I expected. I've always thought putting a tractor seat on these bikes & calling them "Vintage"was an odd thing to do & do not understand how that increases their desirability. Beauty is ...

Re: R51/3-carbs leakage and tuning issues

IN MY OPINION-> The ONLY way to really get a carb SPOTLESSLY clean is to take it completely apart & soak it in Gunk Carb cleaner AT LEAST overnight. This often has to be done a couple of times to get everything out off all the little bore holes. Someone mentioned u could be getting contaminated ...

Re: I'm getting a spark on the safety spark gap above the dynamo

Maybe the air gap on ur homebrew mag safety gap is too small. I don't know exactly what that is supposed to be but the only time u should throw a spark there is when u pull a plug cap.

Re: I'm getting a spark on the safety spark gap above the dynamo

This is interesting. I'm surprised that one of the wrench gurus hasn't gotten u straightened out by now. U say "I have good spark on both spark plugs" ??? U can't have a spark on the plug if u have a spark jumping the mag gap. Hmmm??? Looks to me like u need to go back to basics here &...
