Easy Clutch

Vech used to sell the Easy Clutch - is there someone who sells it now?
Thank you

Re: The Correct speedo for an R60/2 with sidecar

I use a 27/8 rear on my R60/2 with sidecar. The correct speedo is supposed to be 1.23, but I use a 1.2 with no problems - close enough.

Re: Shock absorber compressor tool

My 6' 4" son and I rebuild the shocks on my R60/2 using this very complex and sophisticated method:

We clamped the bottom mount in a vise and my 6'4" son compressed the top of the shock enough for me to get a wrench on it.

Re: Steib trim

Vech at Benchmark Works sells a 2 meter length for $56.35 - part #S500z6. He also sells the little T-bolts.

Re: German Singles Drag Race

I wish I was near you so I could enter my 1953 R25/3 in this race. It is capable of beating the average riding mower. The factory claimed 13 hp for this model, but with about 2,000 miles on a totally rebuilt motor it developed 7.11 hp on a dyno. Yet even with this limited power it can do about 65mph...

Re: /2 Sidecar combination?

I completely agree with R68. The R69S was a "sport bike" in its day. The torque of the R60/2 was appropriate for sidecar use. I have a R60/2 with a Bender LS sidecar (Steib S350 copy). It will do 65 mph while breathing hard, handles marginally at that speed, and stops reluctantly. I also s...

Re: /2 Sidecar combination?

The 27/8 final drive from the US models is an excellent choice for sidecar use. The correct speedo for this is 1.23, but I have found the 1.2 is very close, having checked my indicated speed against a number of speed check trailers often used by municipalities. My R60/2 accelerates from a standstill...

Re: Sidecar recommendations requested

Just a few more notes: Sidecar rigs have quirks, just like motorcycles. You soon get used to them. The prices for new Steib reproductions are deceptive. You need to add shipping (as expensive as shipping a motorcycle) and paint, as they come primered and need quite a bit of prep. That can add as muc...

Re: Good value, or...?

I watched this auction too, and was surprised by what it achieved. For comparison: In 2016 I bought a non-running 1967 R60/2 for $5,000, which I thought was a lot of money at the time. I completely disassembled the bike and totally rebuild it. When all done I was into it for a total of $10,775, not ...

Re: Carb. setting tool - short circuit method

Years ago I replaced some broken spokes. I cut an old spokes to about six inches and the nipple screwed right on to the sparkplug. I let the sparkplug cap rest on the other end of the spoke and used an alligator clip with an attached piece of wire to short out the plug by grounding it to the barrel....
