R69 not running right

I had a similar problem with my '66 R60. When riding, it would suddenly start to sputter and miss a bit like it was runnig out of gas. The problem was in the key switch at the headlight, it would work its way up just the tiniest little bit (you can't see it) and the bike would "shut itsefl off&...

FLUSH TYPE GREASE FITTINGS & GREASE GUN ADAPTORS

Wicks,
I doubt that fitting would work, being american size and all. Do you not have the original fitting? If you tried to install a 1/4-28 fitting, you would likely mess up the threads in the swingarm.

Headlight mirrors

Thanks, Darryl, Jeff, I knew I could count on you for answers. Mine are mounted like yours in the photos Darryl, but like I stated, I have Euro bars and not willing to go back to the USA bars. Sure, Jeff, now you say get the Alberts, not the Bumms, just kidding. Even with the convex mirror, that wou...

R60/2 Slipping out of gear

I apologize for the late response to your topic, haven't been in here in a while, shame on me!! Have you had the trans out of the bike at all? I ask because when I rebuilt my '66 a few years ago and time came to put the trans back in, I didn't know for sure which way the bolt holding the shift lever...

What do you use to make your engine bright (Air head)

As far as the heads/valve covers go, if you really want them to look great and not spend time doing it, blast 'em. It's pretty cheap, lasts a long time and looks like new. And because of the black barrles seperating the cases and heads, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

What do you use to make your engine bright (Air head)

I had really good luck on the cases of my '66 using WD40 and a wire wheel in the die grinder, although it did leave the cases looking somewhat shiny. Even better, I found a product at a marine store named SLX, made for cleaning outdrives and other exposed metal on boats. With much skeptisism, I trie...

possible rear engine seal leaking oil

Just for grins, you may want to take a look at this article: http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/trans/index.htm I know it's for an older bike, but the theory is the same. If this is your problem, and the tranny front seal leaking, it's an easy job. As long as you consider pulling most of the rear of the bik...

Front suspension 1970 R75/5 - its choppy over bumps

If you are talking about a "hole" down in the fork, as in an empty fork tube, you are missing a fork spring. From your description, that's all I can come up with. Sounds like it's time for a fork rebuild, because you can't tell what other bits and pieces might be missing from one side to t...
