Seeking wisdom on inserting new valve guides

Well I haven't done this before, so if anyone has some good advice on what to do or not to do it would be appreciated. Attached is the drift I made to tap the new guides home.

These guides need to have their clips installed prior to installation.

Re: Burning Oil R60/2 /Math Question

I see you can buy Zinc additive. So if you had some on board, maybe you could be a little more flexible with oil selection. Also advice on how often oil should be changed is a grey one. Obviously lots of short runs would require more regular oil changes and one long run of 5,000 miles (say a reliabi...

Sharing a graphic of /6 circuit board

I had a little electrical problem, now resolved.
I did up this graphic of the circuit board in the headlight.
Thought it might come in handy to one of you.

When all the wires are attached in the headlight, it is hard to see the numbers on the board.

Re: Frame Repair Shop?

If the frame is so bent that it cannot be repaired.

Maybe you can find a frame that would suit.

Is it bent or is it just tilted? Maybe loosen a few bolts in the center, realign, and tighten??
No the stork is bent down slightly.

Never mind it can be fixed or replaced, when I get around to it.

Re: How to fit the Krauser cast carrier rack

Well I borrowed a set of panniers, to check on the fit. That seems fine. The carrier is, not quite finished, but close. I will give it a run as is, before I get it painted. Anyone who said this job would be quick and easy, is obviously a lot cleverer than me. Note bent indicator stork on right side....

Re: How to fit the Krauser cast carrier rack

Hello Mal, I lived with Craven racks for years and then Krauser ones for more. The Krauser ones look better fitted and the panniers have more room. The Craven ones are more robust, fibreglass is easily repaired and the rack is stronger and more easily repaired. Given the robust use, the repairabili...

Re: How to fit the Krauser cast carrier rack

Oh gosh, I wish I had known you wanted to install those racks. I put a set on my bike back in 81, they were the worst possible racks to deal with and I didn't have the luggage rack, just the pannier bag mounts. Sorry you are dealing with them, and sorry I can't help as it has been awhile since I la...

Re: How to fit the Krauser cast carrier rack

Mal, Those cast racks were sold by Krauser as their "universal" mounting system. As is the case for most "fits all motorcycles" products, they didn't do a good job on any bikes. The multi-holed metal straps and cheap hardware made every installation look poor. The instructions called for removing t...
