All things being equally mounted, I'd think it would only depend on the clearance spec of the main bearings used - the axial play in the main bearings - at most. Like a "6004" has no noticeable axial movement between the inner and outer race, whereas a "6004-C3" you can feel it with your fingers. C...

THE FINAL POST FOR THIS THREAD Well did the engine timing, fresh fuel etc. With fuel and ignition off I gave the old fella some kicks to get the oil pump at least primed. Fuel lines, fuel, timing and connect generator, check the valve clearances and a general check over.

Heading for 14 months for this project and given other obligations it will be some time before I can carry on from here.
