First, What is a DO ?

First, What is a DO ? Secondly unless you want a parts bike, I dont care if its running or not after sitting for 15 years, It may start and run and feel pretty good, But 200 miles down the road the engine could be shot, You really need to pull the heads or at least take a for-a-scope and look at BOT...

Seat height and engine noise questions, 1971 to 1981 series /5 to /7

OK, It may seem odd but Ill start here, I have a 1971 R60/5 with a real quiet engine A 1976 R75/6 also with a quiet engine and both seem to have the same seat height, I went to look at a 1981 R100rt and found the engine quite noisy and the seat a couple inches higher than my cycles. The 71 has Koni ...

What are endure Beetle bags?

What are endure Beetle bags? Would be brackets be used as a permanent mounting of the bags or would they clip on in some way? I really dont want to put them on my R75/6 as that bike has a set of the newer boxy bags, I just missed a /2 in Harrisburg for the right price, ANyone know what years these w...

Wixom Panniers question, Found set and I am wondering what they fit,,, With Pics,

I have a R75/6 and I know it does not belong in this section, BUT I found this set of Wixom Bros Ranger Panniers and they dont have the mounting brackets, While I wont put them on my cycle, I am keenly interested in these bags as I believe they are from the late 50s and may need to but a R60/2 just...

I am a bit confused, The

I am a bit confused,
The cylinders are marked "Mahle"
Ive found a bit of information on the pistons being made by Mahle, Just not cylinder information,
I believe the engine dates early for the /6 production, I think 74 or 75.

R60/6 engine cylinder maker question

I picked up a well used R60/5 which has a R60/6 engine in at and one cylinder has a bit of rust in it,
I pulled both cylinders to be worked on and noticed that they are MAHLE marked,
Is this the typical maker of the R60/6 cylinders?

I spoke with Tom and he

I spoke with Tom and he suggests me getting the cylinders to him and he would send them out to get them coated and a new set of rings, Less costly than a new set of over sized pistons and rings. Ill pull the second cylinder in the next few days so I can drop them off at his shop hopefully Wed eve, ...
