Re: BMW Unveils the retro R18

A bit much weight ..or too little vintage. No art deco on the fenders at all...want my MTV.

My R 51 or 69 S both look nicer and are original.

Re: What old BMW gearheads dream of....

Now that is an excellent Cannonball entry candidate.
The paintwork is art deco noveau.

AVGAS in motorcycles

In the recent Vol 187 Issue 29 -real recent July-AIRHEAD DIGEST- there is an interesting discussion of the use of aircraft gas-(AVGAS) in some BMWs. At least one of the participants was convinced that very few BMW cycles were left that might ever use small amounts of highly leaded AVGAS- as is curre...

Re: R51/3 - engine won't start after carbs cleaning

I have a 1951 R 51/3.

Don't forget timing and mag/It all works together
and the devil is in the details. Keep alternating plugs as they get wet-then dry. Then new plug.
That was an old tip from Vech.

A Singular Bulletin-The R 27 mystique

In about 2008 I was at Craig Vechorik's Benchmark Works and managed to ride the R-27s of both Richard Scheckler and Kevin Reimer. They were both peppy bikes and I still remember both rides. Kevin had replaced the stock carb with a Bing from an R 50. Kevin's R 27 made a memorable ride from Tallahasse...

Re: Replacing front fork springs

Interesting commentary on Mobil 1 multigrade fork oil.
I wonder if synthetic fork oil is offered-as I have not seen it.
Think I will have a long chat with Vech on this subject.
