Re: Leaking carburators

I’ve taken a look,at the artikel from Salis and must admit that the problem could lay in the fact that my bike was on the side stand .
My center stand isn’t there yet but In the coming weekend I will look at it , holding the bike straight .

Re: How much of the restoration will you do or did

I did a total restoration .the bike wasn’t really pretty anymore when I bought it. The engine was done by Salis, the striping by : oldtimer linierung in Wiesbaden And the assembling I did myself. All together a nice result I think . BEFORE : F83D659D-8AA0-4EC1-A0DE-0E4E7C0B4C09.jpeg AFTER : E30F9B93...

Leaking carburators

In a attempt to start my restored R51/3 for the first time ,
I found both my carburators leaking at the idle screw when I opened the fuel cock .
What could be wrong ?

Re: Headlamp “crown”

I have solved the problem. I dremel-ed off the broken “points” , dremel-ed off two of the points from the new crown. Then I bonded then on the old crown with special metal glue, wich I’ve used before and proved its quality. The ignition plate fits like a glove . 2E2DDA57-61B2-4440-9415-C51A98674494....

Headlamp “crown”

The “crown” in my headlamp misses the two front points for putting the ignition switch plate on. I totally have overseen that ,and by now the headlamp is already painted so pointwelding is a no go. Is there a way to repair the crown points or do I have to remove the old crown by dremel or mini-saw. ...

Re: Removing old crown in headlamp

No pictures available at the moment but I think as you say it’s zinc-based .
My idea is to saw of the welding points with a small blade or something like that, and then glue on the new crown with metal glue but perhaps there are members here with other and better idea’s

Re: Removing old crown in headlamp

The crown is electric welded in place in the headlamp. Two of my thorns are broken and I thought the only solution was to put in a new crown. A solution to recover the thorns is always welcome. You say that you had to improvise with bronze soldering ? Will it hold on the material of wich the crown i...
