Interesting, looks like the 87a is much more common than the 87b. What's the difference between an 87/87 and an 87/87b? It looks to me like the 87/87 powers both terminals as does the 87/87b but differently. Does it matter as long as both are energized? https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-Main-Current-Rel...

Yes
The amazon relay is different and has a 87a unlike the BMW relay with a 87b terminal

Yea keep it simple
If the right front blinker is working, then the flasher is working
Check that you have power to right rear bulb blue wire
Ground is terminated from outside of socket to inside of tail light #31 brown wire

Craig Yes that is a good static test if that fails it is bad Note: Condenser must be disconnected Easier just unground the condenser so you don't have to remove the lead from the points or coil wire, and don't have bare hands on test leads. If the flasher relay is defective both right front and right rear would also be bad.
I will post wiring diagram schematic later today after veviewing and post back later today
