Re: Indian made re-pop gas tanks

Thanks for the input, that is what I thought. The photos you see differ on their site. some show the tank with outside hinges and the next, inside hinges. I am smart enough to know they don't make two different tanks.. Thanks again

Indian made re-pop gas tanks

I just purchased a 1955 R50 with a Schorsch Meier tank that needs more work and $$$ than I want to invest. Has anyone bought the 6.5 gal. tank made in India? What do you think? What are the positives and negatives?... Jim

Re: R51/3 - Muffler and Exhaust question

I would look into Salis in the Netherlands. Jan is full of information and his products, especially the mufflers and headers fit perfectly and the price is right. I have purchased the exhaust systems for the last three /3 bikes from him.

Re: Bike wobble due to grooves in freeway

Sounds like steering head bearings need tightening. This has little to do with the damper. I would start by installing a pair of tapered roller bearings and get a good adjustment on the new bearings. If you have the tapered bearings already I would check the adjustment...

Re: R51/3 one carb will not idle down

Thanks all for your help. Nothing really worked till i pulled the insert 13110039128 Insert Bing 25-050-5 (Nr. 5) out and it came out in 4 pieces. Serious air leaks around the needle jet where it screws into the Bing insert piece. As long as the piece was screwed into the carb body all appeared to b...

Re: R51/3 one carb will not idle down

Idle mix screw is at the bottom with no pressure on the slide, slides sitting on the bottom of the carb body

R51/3 one carb will not idle down

I am finishing up a 1953 R51/3 and I can not get the left hand carb to idle down. The slide is on the bottom of the carb body, I have checked and re-checked all internal parts which are all new. The body has been cleaned in carb cleaner 2 times, plenty of free play in the cable, all internal passage...
