Re: What model is this speedo for ?

Thanks all ! I can always depend on quick and accurate answers from my fellow members.

I've spent countless, late night hours down the rabbit hole of Snowbum's incredible site but never saw that chart.

Thanks !!

What model is this speedo for ?

I have a speedo that I've been tasked to find a home for... but can't identify what model it belongs to. The dial reads W=1.144. My best guess is /6 or /7 era but I've also been told it is from a R80. Perhaps there is a chart on the internet somewhere that identifies the various speedo codes and rat...

Re: R68 center-stand vs muffler quandary

Vech !! how the heck are ya ? I hoped that you would eventually see my post and tell me the solution... but it is summer and we all have things to do. Just staying cool down there in the deep south must be a challenge for you these days!! I'm 99% sure this bike has never been tampered with. Though B...

Re: R68 center-stand vs muffler quandary

Thanks Kurt...so the plot thickens. My part in this adventure is as "the buddy who finds parts" for all the BMW owners I know who are not internet savey. I've only briefly looked at the bike to verify the cutout mufflers and next I'll verify if it is indeed a R67/2. if that is the case, th...

Re: R68 center-stand vs muffler quandary

Hmmm...that is strange as this is the correct matching number and year is 1953. On page 518 of the Barrington book on the data pages they list the R68 for up to serial 650000 as straight pipes and swallowtail with hanger. then from 650001 the list as coming factory with S-Bend pipes and Swallowtail ...

R68 center-stand vs muffler quandary

I’m working on a 1953 R67/2 that appears very original, vin 614864. According to the Barrington Data pages, this bike was offered with straight pipes and swallowtail non-cutout mufflers. BUT…this bike is fitted with the cutout mufflers. Indications are that these mufflers were not adopted until a fe...

Solo saddle for R75/5 ?

Methinks this is a stupid question (grin) ...but can a /2 solo saddle and bread-loaf bum seat be fitted to a /5 bike? Thereare several good reasons why this can't be done; the frame and mounting lugs are are simply not there on the /5. But that said, it occurred to me that possibly there is a mod-ki...

Re: Advice on windshield for my R75/5 please

Thanks Bill but I prefer the naked bike and a fairing would be too much. Thanks for the offer. Just looking for a light and minimalist windshield and hoping somebody in the forum can take most of the guesswork out of making my choice.

Re: Advice on windshield for my R75/5 please

thanks Chris. that looks interesting. there are 11 items on that National Cycle web-page. do you have the item number or perhaps there is a number imprinted on your wind-shield.
