Hubs: paint, power coat, or bare?

I am concerned that the steel rivets on my newly cleaned hubs (76 R90/6) will rust when exposed to wet weather and/ or the nearby salt water. Should I leave them bare and take my chances? Paint? Power coat? ……And why? Is there any other alternative? If the hubs were painted or power coated then I'd ...

pin striping by hand vs tape and clear coat

What does everyone think about handpainted pin stripes using tape as a guide followed by clear coating? I once had the gas tank on my 1992 R100R painted and pin striped with permanent tape, then clear coated. I was not happy with the results. I think that if the stripes are painted using appropriate...

pin striping

Can someone tell me the appropriate width of the pinstripes on a '76 R90/6? I have newly painted fenders and tank (Granada Red) that I am sending out to be pinstriped, followed by clear coating. I recall a discussion on this website about this but cannot find the thread.

Thank you, Kurt. The Google

Thank you, Kurt. The Google images search brought up what I was looking for: a picture of an R90 in Dover White that allows me to judge what a /6 looks like in that color. As you suggest, it's difficult to judge the color on the internet, and there are no nearby Dover White bikes to inspect, at leas...

images of R90/6

I am looking for images of an R90 painted in the white usually associated with /2s. My R90/6 needs new paint for its fenders, headlight, headlight, fairing, tank (not the frame). Black pinstripes will be added to this 'incorrect' color.

76 R90/6

I plan to breathe new life into a 1976 R90/6 offered locally for sale and am looking for counsel and voices of experience. I want a reliable, professionally finished touring bike for New England with electric start and more speed than my 1964 R50 but not as powerful as my R1200R, that I now rarely r...

Alaska Leather sheepskin seat

Thanks for the tip, Jambo. Alaska Leather made me a naturally dark sheered seat for the Denfield on the '64 R50/2. Comfy and warm. At present here in Maine this October/ November the temperatures have been in the low 50s and upper 40s. About the only part of me that is actually warm is my butt thank...

sheepskin for Denfield

Who makes sheepskin seat covers for Denfield solo seats? Any opinions on their use regarding comfort, warmth in cold weather, staying in place, etc? I have a /2…
