Thank for all the replies.

Thank for all the replies.

I'm in Ireland and have used Uli's a lot in the past. It was really so that I can have the prints and start marking off parts needed as I go. I find it a good way not to forget items as the order gets placed. I'll get a few pics of the project up over the next few days.

R60/2

I haven't posted here since I restored my R27 about 8 years ago; it is still the most reliable bike I have. But yesterday I became the proud owner of a 1964 R60/2 and I'm delighted to have the larger stable mate for my R27. It is in poor condition and needs a lot of work to get it roadworthy again. ...

Scott, I renovated a poor

Scott, I renovated a poor condition R27 recently and have been riding it a lot for the last month. It cruises at 65mph and can hit 75 but that feels like it is pushing it a bit too hard. I think you'll be quite surprised at the bike's performance; I was expecting it too be far less nimble, not that ...

That looks superb! i was also apprehensive at first starting my rebuilt R27 but it runs so much better/smoother than before I was amazed and hopefully yours will too. I'm sure you will have that unmovable smile on your face when you ride her down the road for the first time.

The electronic regulator

The electronic regulator arrived from germany today. I found that after polarising the generator it was working fine until I turned on the lights and just like other posters stories, it ceased to function and the red light started flashing again. I polarised the generator and then disconnected the b...

I believe that there is a rubber cap on the neutral light switch adjacent to the clutch hole; at least there was on my R27.

Video of the problem can be seen here on youtube I had changed my order once I found the NOS regulator and cancelled the electronic regulator. Anyway, I got on to Uli's today and ordered a new electronic reg and a nice pair of metzeler block C's to finish off the project nicely. I really hope this s...

Cork, Ireland - not a town

Cork, Ireland - not a town noted for it's vintage BMW mechanics!! I'll drop him a line and see if he can help me out. I would prefer to keep it stock, if it could be relied on.

As an aside, I just came across a R90S for sale that would make a lovely "next" project!

Update

Well, I am happy to say that the engine started on the third kick (once I had reversed the cam tube on the advance plate, it was causing a spark just before the exhaust stroke!) and the timing has been dialled in with a strobe and it sounds great.
