All I have of the steering damper for the 1928 R47 is BMW cat number 1826. This is the threaded cup nut which holds the fork in place. The pictures in the catalogue is the only pictures I have seen of this damper. Would love to make one but need a photograph of how it works . I could scale the part...

Thanks for your input. I would tend to agree with you although I have just been through customs etc out of the UK with easily the same weight as a crankshaft in BM spares , no problem . To overhaul a crankshaft in bad condition is not easy and there is no one in South Africa I would trust to do the...

Crank is in a bad shape and it may not be worthwhile to overhaul .
