Re: Wiring harness replacement R75/5

Just watch the front signal light harness, as it's usually short with only two wires and should not be helping to support the load of the bucket.

Re: Wiring harness replacement R75/5

Hi Alex, I just finished the same process on a '71 R60/5. The trick I use to get the wire through the rear subframe is to run a piece for shrink tube through first. You can attach it to the old wires when removing them or run some lock wire through and attach the shrink tube to that. Once it's throu...

Re: 1974 BMW R60 Oil Filter

Hi, What Bill sent you is the MAX BMW parts fiche for the R60/6. It's pretty handy to lookup parts need for your bike. Below are the filter options for your bike, assuming you don't have the cooler kit installed: bottom arrow of the first picture (396), which is highly unlikely. The 572 filter is NL...

Re: 1974 BMW R60 New Battery

I use NOCO, CTEK and OptiMATE and all three have an AGM mode. I have never used a Motobatt one, and think that's probably a marketing thing to get you to buy their battery charger. As I said before, I have two lifts for customer work. I have a NOCO mounted on wall beside one lift and a CTEK mounted ...

Re: 1974 BMW R60 New Battery

I check them on arrival and they're usually close to full, but once installed I always put them on a charger to be sure they go out to the customer fully charged. I have a small shop and work on one or two bikes at a time, so anytime a customer bike is on a lift, I connect a trickle charger to the b...

Re: 1974 BMW R60 New Battery

I put Motobatt's in most of my customers /6 bikes and haven't had an issue with any of them coming back. The one I use is the MBTX20UHD with ~400cca. It comes with 4 posts so you can have dedicated posts for the bike and another set for all your accessories.. including a trickle charger. It's black ...

Re: 73 R75/5 Carb leaking from tiny hole near bowl gasket

If you like the look of the braided fuel line you can search for 7mm Volkswagen fuel line. It's available from numerous suppliers. Randy's tip on putting a washer on before the fuel line is a fuel barb saver. The barbs are made of plastic and have a tendency to break when people pull on the fuel lin...

Re: /2 VDO Tachometer.

Hi James, Sorry for the late reply - we're just back from the holidays. I'm glad it worked out for you and, as I said before, I'm happy it went to someone in the group. Now you'll know just how much you're over revving that little R50S - :o I'm working on getting "clearance from the tower"...
