In order to leave the engine in place and remove the transmission, you will have to remove the rear fender, rear wheel, the battery box and air box, and the swing arm.

Those individual components weigh a lot less each than the engine and trans!

The dog point adjuster bolt and the thin jam nut are both available new.
21 52 1 020 116 is the dog point bolt
07 11 9 921 056 is the thin, 6 mm x 1.0 jam nut.

I agree, that the Avon Road riders do make the bike handle better. I have them on my R50S, and it feels better when you encounter rain groves than the vintage tread patterns.
