Re: Today’s puzzle is about SEATS

Pete…thanks for the input. Boxer2valve sell a “1970 SWB” Siebenrock foam that is for a longer seat with cutouts for the wraparound railing grab bar mounts rather than cutouts for the side mounts of the side grab bars. I’ve written to Siebenrock and ask if they have, or will have, the correct foam fo...

Today’s puzzle is about SEATS

Hello. I bought what I was told was a /5 SWB seat….. which I believe it is. image4.jpeg The pan is approximately 28-3/4” long. As near as I can figure the SWB was made in 1970-71. I believe only the early seventies /5s came with two handles before switching to the wraparound style. IMG_9575.jpeg As ...

SWB /5 seat measurements please.

Hey…does anyone have a SWB /5 seat (the two grab-handle style) close at hand to take some measurements for me ?

I need measurements for: “A to D”, “A to B” and “B to C”. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Re: R80, R100 fuel tank on R90/6

….and the answer is: YES. A /7 tank does fit on a R90/6. Now, on to the seat puzzle solution. The /7 tank is longer than a /6 so, just as Kurt Schrader says, the /6 seat is too long with a /7 tank. I’m hoping a /5 SWB seat will fit. So if anyone has a SWB /5 seat in very good condition on their shel...

Re: R80, R100 fuel tank on R90/6

Thanks. The plan is to install a /7 seat and tank onto a ‘76 /6 frame..so the seat/tank GAP might not be an issue. The shape under a /7 tank looks similar to a /6…but not exactly the same. Fingers crossed that the M/C fits.

R80, R100 fuel tank on R90/6

Hey..I’m wondering…. will a R100/7 fuel tank fit on a 1976 R90/6 ? I’m wondering about the brake master cylinder on the /6 fitting under the /7 tank. Thanks.

Re: /5 Muffler question

Werner….Thanks.

Taking the exhaust pipes off destroyed the threads on one of the heads which I’ve had repaired.

The question is: I’m thinking of using Permatex Copper Anti-seize on the exhaust nuts. Is there something better or is this a good choice ??

Does anyone know ? Thanks.

Re: /5 Muffler question

Werner, here ya go. They are not OEM BMW but they fit in all the right holes and don’t bump into anything they’re not supposed to. They’re for a ‘69-‘72 /5. I’m hoping their sound is quiet and as original.
