I ran a Metzler K-block on a non-bmw sidecar rig. Worked well and lasted for ages, may even be period correct.

I run trials pattern knobbies on my r60/2 sidecar rig but judging by the picture your rig doesn't get the kind of use that makes knobbies a good idea.

I had a chafed wire inside my

I had a chafed wire inside my rear fender that was making all kinds of strange things happen with the tail light. It's a hassle running new wires inside the fender but not that bad if you pull the fender off and do it on the workbench.

I have never done more than minor touch-ups on moto wheels, but truing was a regular chore on mountain bikes. It's pretty easy once you get a good mental model of what you are doing.
