Having the right tools makes it easier but its still a bitch. One of the most lame designs ever for BMW if you ask me.

I have a very nice condition Original EAS 170 headlight for BMW R12 and R17 motorcycles with a battery ignition. It has the switch inside( removed currently) and I have the headlight ring to go with it. I would be willing to let it go for a price. Its here in the USA and I also have the BOSCH Genera...

Its also an artist drawing so take it for what its worth. I have spent many hours in the archives, looking at photos of these bikes.

For the R5 and R6 I have only seen chrome, even for Importer sellers like AFN in the UK. I have two photos and on my 1938 Berlin Auto show only the R51 display bike has black.

Carbs are available direct from the manufacture now.

I have a BMW R5 in my shop that is a 1936 #1,000 ever made. It is # 9001 .The BMW letter states it was delivered to the UK with Chrome wheels.
