Re: Oily Air Box

I checked the air box again and is dry, oil level is normal, but the truth I did not check the level or don’t remember checking.
Thanks for you kind comments.

Re: Main seal?

Srankin, the paint photographs 60% better then reality but mechanically, other then the main seal leak, works perfectly. Friends; are there a good restoration books for these 70's bikes, something equivalent to the Barrington? I think it will be a good idea to read such literature before making a de...

Re: Main seal?

Thanks Kurt and Srankin for answering. I watched the Boxer 2 Valve videos thanks and think are great. Kurt, it is motor oil and I agree with you; transmission, clutch and flywheel need to come down. The odometer was in pieces when I purchase the bike and has only 18k miles since restored. The motorc...

Re: Oily Air Box

Sorry friends I made a mistake, what I replaced are the pushrod seals.

I just finished the R90S Dellorto’s and will bring the R100GS/PD back to the table to check oil level and compression.
I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks

Main seal?

After further investigation I found oil seeping from between the gear box and the engine. https://live.s...

Re: Oily Air Box

From your picture, are you missing a bolt between your snorkels in the air box? If memory serves me right, that bolt holds the air box to the transmission and is not a blind hole in the transmission. Good catch, I was in the process of removing the box for cleaning the oil. Today was a BSA Gold Sta...

Re: Oily Air Box

Hello and thanks for writing. I replaced the seals, not the valve guides. 45k. Will check oil level again.

Oily Air Box

Hi to all. A few weeks ago I replace the 4 valve guide seals on my 1993 R100GS/PD https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53274584022_aff650b8c3.jpg After, I went for a long ride. Next day I found a puddle of oil under the centerstand. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53275479661_36c72d1e90.jpg I tra...
