Re: R100RT to RS fairing swap

Well... the LED plug-n-play bulb I've been so happy with burned out its high beam.

I've noticed that my bike is charging consistently at 14.8 volts while riding, which Snowbum says is ideal (I think he says no higher than 14.9 at the outside...?). But since I got, like, three voltage regulators in ...

Re: New bike - some help please

I have lauded the Bridgestone Battlax BT46s in stock sizes for this bike in earlier posts, based on my experience with the 1,300-mile jaunt back from the purchase in Wisconsin through all kinds of weather and road surfaces.

However, one note : my place is accessed via a dirt (base course) spur ...

Re: 1978 R100S rear tire size

My 1978 R100s came with a fresh set of Bridgestone Battlax BT46 on its snowflake wheels. The rear is a 120/90 X 18 and when I tighten up the axle the tire rubs the drive shaft housing. (not by much). Also I was surprised that the caliper mount does not float and it is part of the axle stack so it ...

Re: VERY LARGE ARRAY TRIP - Now? Spring?

Since you are consistently at high elevation, you could lean it out a bit for a slightly better performance (thin air = richer mix, as there is less oxygen in the air). It may not be that noticeable but could help with starting (I vaguely remember the Bing book has elevation charts for needle ...

Re: Passing of Bob Fleischer

I am relatively new to this forum but was quickly directed to Fleischer's voluminous webpages by longtime users.

I agree with one of the previous posters that his writing style could be challenging at times. But there's no denying Fleischer's generosity in devoting such a significant chunk of his ...

Re: VERY LARGE ARRAY TRIP - Now? Spring?

I did what I consider to be the final 'shakedown cruise' today, starting at the Northern tip of the Sandias (1st pic), heading north on I-25 to an early Santa Fe exit, then south down NM14 behind the Sandias (Turquoise Trail), stopping to pay my respects at my late friend's ranch (the NM historian ...

Re: New bike - some help please

Exhaust leak: About the only things I can think of are that the rings are not seating flush on the edge of the exhaust port. You would need to remove everything and dress that edge to ensure there isn't any flashing that is preventing a good seal. Are the rings properly oriented? It's been a while ...

Re: R100RT to RS fairing swap

Thanks, I'm satisfied with the aesethics for the foreseeable future.

Rode about 80 miles today, mostly at highway speeds, and the OEM windshield w/o the edge treatment is perfect for me at 6'2" with 34" inseam. I have read threads about buffeting but didn't experience that. The protection ends ...

Re: VERY LARGE ARRAY TRIP - Now? Spring?

Looks like passing interest in the topic but evidently no takers thus far...

I have now ridden the RT to RS conversion (essentially done now, see pics) several times in sub-50 F. weather, and I think I could comfortably sustain the ABQ to VLA ride under such conditions behind the RS fairing with ...
