seconding the slingers. i know it's a lot of work, but i bought a bike with an unknown history and did that job on it myself. i'm glad i did because the slingers were overfull with crap and it was migrating down the tubes and into the bearings. i'm not sure they had ever been cleaned. so that would ...

yeah the flywheel is bolted onto the crank through the rear of the engine case. so unless you want to cut the case apart, you have to undo that bolt first.

if you need anything more detailed, i have one of those cycleworks many-in-one pullers for the crankshaft timing gear, i could take some closer photos with a ruler on it for reference. the main device is pretty simple.

the throttle slide? yeah i'd try soaking it in pb blaster.
