Re: Grooved pavement = terrifying!!!!

"Loosening your grip on the bars will let the front end float a bit until you can get past that section. Slowing down will help some, too." Kurt is correct. A good friend once told me 'loosey goosey' with the handlebars is best on less than ideal road conditions. Don't over react. Kevin T...

Re: Grooved pavement = terrifying!!!!

Search below and you can find my post about the SUPERIOR quality of the riding experience using MODERN profile tires,Avon ,Pirelli, etc. Those "vintage style" look great butt are TERRIBLE on modern, rain groove roads. Look below, you can see the different tires mentioned. I moved away from ...

Never ridden on Heidenau's, but my Avon RoadRiders don't squirm on rain grooves. I had an old Suzuki that did what you described... it's pretty spooky...
Thank you. What size do you use? No issues using the stock rim?

Re: Grooved pavement = terrifying!!!!

Thanks Kurt. Thats good advice but in my case the grooves were along the path of travel so I had no option but to ride along, parallel to them.

Grooved pavement = terrifying!!!!

Since I got my R69s earlier this year I have mainly been putzing around my neighborhood as I get to know the bike and learn to to trust that it wont break down on me. Today was a beautiful day in SoCal so I decided to venture it bit further out to some twistys. On my way there, I encountered some gr...

Re: De-rusting R25/2 Tank

Kurt, if you use EvapoRust you wont need to worry about the paint. Instead of using the gas cap, I just moved the tank around (flat, left side, right side, standing on its nose) to make sure the EvapoRust soaked the entire tank. Its as easy as soak, drain, rinse. I didnt have to do any work afterwar...

Re: 1967 R69S restoration

Oh man thats such a bummer. I am no paint expert but if the paint cracked there should there be concern that other areas/parts would be just as fragile? Are you looking at perhaps more paint issues down the road? Did this happen perhaps because the parts were not properly prepped and/or the paint wo...

Re: De-rusting R25/2 Tank

I recently had to remove rust from a Ducati I am restoring that sat for over 13 years with gas in it. I soaked the tank in EvapoRust for 8 hours and it did wonders! It doesnt affect paint either. I ended up re-orienting the gas tank in various positions every 8 hours. Highly recommended. Living in S...

Re: OK to kickstart on Brown sidestand??

Perfect! Thank you guys! Thats a big relief. I am still not that proficient at putting the bike gracefully on the centerstand so using the sidestand is much easier and saves me from embarrassment and ridicule from my riding buddies. I think part of my issue is my (lack of) height. I can almost stand...

OK to kickstart on Brown sidestand??

While enjoying a great ride along the coast in Socal my bike experienced a fuel starvation issue even though I had plenty of gas (another issue for another post) which caused the bike to die. The road where I pulled over sloped away from the bike towards the curb enough so that I didnt feel comforta...
