Re: Crankshaft rear bearing play

Your second link references the cost of a rebuilt crank + exchange. This is about what I paid a few years ago. I had Ulis rebuild both ends etc. on my '51 R67 as mine had spun too. I'm surprised that it hasn't increased in price over that time. Good on Ulis.

Re: Where to find Parabellum Scout

The Hannigan Sport Fairing works well on /5 and /6. Not too bulky and looks great. I've got one in black but have yet to reinstall on my /5. Can be used with or without the lowers.

Here's a nice example on Bring a Trailer:

Re: Clutch rod

My '51 R67 came with the same setup. I cleaned mine up and reinstalled. There is a replacement one piece if you choose to go that route.

Re: r60/2 crankshaft overhaul

Not sure about cost today but I had Ulis Motorrad rebuild my '51 R67 crank and install new connecting rods etc a few years back. First class outfit.

Re: What jets?

Please let me know if you can't find a pair of 24mm carbs locally. My 24s are in very good condition and complete. I would gladly pay shipping both ways across the pond to make a swap happen. I can provide you with detailed photos.

Re: Find spray paint that matches a 74 motorcycle frame

When touching up small areas not highly visible I have often resorted to Tremclad Gloss Black. I prefer the brush on version, not rattle can. It's affectionately called 'BMW Black' in my house.

Re: Looking at buying my R51/3

Flyingspanner may have opened the proverbial hornets nest. Rather than add fuel to the fire I would only say that purchasing a matching versus non-matching numbers bike will depend on what your plans are for the bike i.e. daily rider mechanically restored but not a complete ground up restoration ...

Re: Opinions about buying a R67/2

As you know prices vary considerably across the country. I purchased a complete '51 R67 several years back for $2.5K CDN. Engine was seized on one cylinder but otherwise it was all there and had loads of patina but wasn't beat up nor rusty. I got lucky in that the seized cylinder didn't damage the ...
