Wanted to give a plug to Dent Hog of Georgia

Just got my tank back from Dent Hogs in Georgia - I thought their work was really remarkable. 1 before and 2 after pics (which don't really do it justice). I'm keeping the patina so obviously there's nothing they could do about the paint scrapes but amazing how much they were able to get out without...

Re: 1959 R 50 - bar end signals

Hi and welcome as well. I applaud your desire to keep it stock but if its going to be ridden at all, I'd lean on the side of safety. You could always do a set of bolt-on aftermarket lights - completely un-doable if it turns out Steve McQueen owned it or you were showing the bike somewhere and wanted...

Re: Paint codes

I feel your pain(t) - there doesn't seem to be two of the same whites out there, plus with trying to perceive color through a computer screen and unknown lighting conditions, its though to tell. The first picture attached is a screen capture of the Jeff Dean article showing the exact same bike but l...

Couple o' Carburetor Questions R60US

So my '68 R60US arrived the other day - First project will be a carburetor rebuild. The model is 1/24/151. Question 1 - obviously, everything's going to come apart and get a bath but are there any parts like needles or jets that are worth replacing preemptively ? What about the "new" type ...

Ultra-Rare 4 cylinder R60

This rig currently for sale in Oregon (not mine). Some nutter fitted a VW engine into a R60 body. I can't decide if this person should have gotten a medal or a faced a tribunal for his crimes. I think justice would have been done the first time he opened up the throttle or hit a corner at more than ...

Re: Just going for it!!

I sent this story to my uncle, Vietnam vet and naval aviator. He replied: "Sure makes a special trip to NAS Floyd Bennet from Whidbey Is. for your dog look pretty outrageous. He loved the trip!" To save you the internet search, Naval Air Station Floyd Bennet is in Brooklyn, NYC and Whidbey...

Re: Dealer sticker

Very cool - what model was it off of? and where is the magical barn that vintage bikes keep pouring out of?? Maybe mask it off and hit it with some clear poly or lacquer to help preserve it? Don't know what plans are but I've always been a patina and originality guy - too easy for things like this t...

Re: Time to Play 'What Parts are Missing?' 1968 R60US

It was ebay, the next bidder down from me shot mine right up to my max of $5666 which means they were very close. It wasn't a "must" but thought it would be neat if I could find one of the handful of not-black painted bikes out there. Of course the same week, an absolutely gorgeous unresto...
