Try doing a direct ground from the metal turn signal stalk and a bolt on the motor, I found this on my trash pile '71 R 50/5 "Turdzilla".

The early /5's had a role pin that secured the side stand to the pin. I guess the later ones had that goofy contraption that should have held it in place. I will say that five out of five /5's that I have had the weld on that pin break causing the pin to wobble and the side stand appear to be bent ...

The carb number is 1/24/42 if that helps.

Attach a picture of the horn you have! The '72 should have a chrome face.

A while back I finished the restoration of my cousins '55 R 25/3, he had a spare carb for that bike in the box of parts. If you want I will contact him and see if he would part with the spare carb and get addition info on it if he will let it go. Let me know.

Rivet setting for hub drive cog

What is the preferred method of attaching a new rear drive cog to the /2 wheel hub as far as setting the correct hardened rivets? Is this something I should send out to have it done?

If it happens as you turn the handle bars check you cable routing and age.

Is there a chance you have a /5 clutch lever mount? That would explain the size difference. You can get a thread repair kit for that left hand mirror threads also.
