R47

Bill, The Rockers must be forged, then ground. If you have original sets that are worn, you will need to grind the surface upon which the rollers ride. You will then need to fit new rollers of a larger size and then confirm that the inner portion of the outer race is not only in good condition but s...

Reg Pridmore R90S

The bike has undergone its complete restoration and we will present it in March to the press/Public. We are making the plans now. I have already seen on the internet pictures which I am sure Udo told those who took them not to publish, so I also ask the one who has the images to hold them till after...

grinding to the correct taper?

You are going to "build it up and grind back to the correct taper??" Do you really have the correct tools and ability to do this? This taper needs to be at a very precise angle. Any deviation from the proper angle or lack of uniformity and the generator will not sit properly. This is not a...

valve adjustment

Hello Darryl and others, I thought I might give my experience and knowledge for the valve adjustment discussion. I think the method that was offered by Ted correct but there is a bit of info missing. And I suspect that there still might be some misunderstanding as there is still talk of needing spec...

Missing the drive gear

Mully R60, You are missing the drive gear that is required. The later R69's all seem to have this gear as standard but the R50's and 60's Ive taken apart always seem to be missing this gear. You need to source the gear and then disassemble the front of the engine and install the missing gear. Then y...

Mis match bike

Hello, You have a R12 engine. An R12 transmission. The frame is not a R75 frame. The R75 frame is made up from several pieces. The frame is not a R12 or a R71 either. It appears at first glance to be in the R51 family but I am not even convinced it is BMW (probably Ural). The ignition system is not ...

Head light

I have seen the light on several occasions. I always thought it would be kinfd of interesting as an accessory light also but in the applications I have seen it in it is actually the headlight for a smaller motorcycle of the same era (not an accessory light)

mag timing

Ian, I have to chime in again. For those who have never worked with the mag for this bike, they need to understand it is not like a /2. First there is no way to "disconnect" the condensor as it is epoxied into the end of the rotating coil (yes, the coil rotates). Second, I just need to tel...

Ian, With a standard "squak "

Ian, With a standard "squak " box simply put the connections on either side of the points. Due to the way the mag is made there will be a different resistance when the points are closed vs when they are open. The box will squak all the time but you will note a small change in frequency bet...
